New Year’s Resolutions
I may be slightly late with this, but it's still better than never!
So now that we are in 2016, I've been thinking a lot about New Year’s resolutions. I have my finalised list that I plan on sticking too, not just for the sake of sticking to a resolution, but because I'm taking charge of my life. So here goes:
- Write more
- Cook more
- Run more
- Be more
- Enter at least 3 writing competitions
The reading and writing ones seem fairly obvious. If this is what I want to do, then I sure as hell need to further up my efforts to do both of these things more. The best way to pick up new styles and techniques is by reading and this is best put to use through practice. Not to mention it opens you up to other genres and aspects of writing that you may never have considered before or had written off (pun intended) as not your style.
When it comes to cooking, let's just say I'm definitely not the healthiest eater, hence the want to apply my efforts into this. I mean it's not like I ate a load of crap in 2015, but I ate a load of crap in 2015. It's terrifying to admit Tesco Value 48p noodles were a staple. Here's to expanding my meal horizons and actually trying to put together a decent diet! And plus it would be awesome if I could surprise my other half through advanced culinary skills (I need to stop playing Sims).
Run more. Pretty self-explanatory. Do something for 21 days and I've been told it becomes a habit!
I intend to find more self-worth and confidence in order to keep my life on track of where I want to be.
As for the competitions, if I want to get noticed, then I actually have to put myself out there! I've found a pretty awesome one on Readers Digest where you enter a 100 word story. I really ran with the idea and have written quite a few and now I’m just deciding on which to enter. If this is something you think you'd be interested in then go to their website here.
Well here’s to an awesome 2016!
